Thanks A Million

I've been somewhat on a "Mintie" hiatus for the past couple of months. Running my own design studio full time and working as an on-taff designer at my church, I'm almost always on a deadline. So carving out time to create something fun is almost unheard of. Fortunately, I recently had quite a bit of down time due to a pretty radical knee surgery that had to be done. The silver lining, the recovery gave me loads of down time to doodle and create fun illustrations without the pressure of any deadlines.

Minted is always looking for fresh and genius designers through their ongoing challenges and what better way to enter then their 'Thanks A Million' Thank You Card Challenge by submitting a couple cards. My inspiration was that meals were being dropped off during recovery by my most amazing friends and family and always with a smile! I wanted to create some thank you notes that were cheery and from my heart to show how thankful I was. And through Minted, others will be able to do the same!

The Minted community, that includes you, votes to tell Minted what to sell. Voting will be open for only a few days & to vote for either my 'thanks sunshine' or 'whale, whale, whale' design click on the links below to rate the design and feel free to leave a comment on either of them. .....thanks!

Sending Holiday CHEER

WOW!! Minted's Sending Holiday Cheer Design Challenge had a whopping 2251 submissions! Out of all those designs, only 700 made it onto the next round. I submitted 11 designs and ONE of them made it through to the voting round .....Shalom!

I have to admit that I was a little shocked at first. I received quite a few positive feedback comments on a couple of my designs that didn't make it through. Ironically I received a bible verse in my inbox today that said: Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. {Proverbs 11:2} I guess my ego needed to be checked.

Voting will be open for only a few days & to vote for my Shalom design go to: minted.com. I will post all the designs with a link, feel free to leave a comment on any of them. .....Peace!

duely noted*

Out of 657 submissions to Minted's Chronicle Books Stationery Design Challenge I was able to submit 8 designs! Being a "mintie" for 1 year and not submitting any designs was embarrassing. {so now my Minted profile actually has artwork to display} At first I felt the assigned color palette and a list of fonts to choose from were going to be a restriction for my creativity, but it actually proved to open up my mind and design with even more creativity.

Not sure for how much longer voting will remain open, but it still is so if you haven't done so, go ahead.... sign-in and "rate a design". Oh & yes, rating is the same thing as voting!

Biggs... the big bad boxer!

My inaugural blog post topic is of none other than my 8 month old boxer puppy, Biggs! Sure, he looks angelic and calm in his photo, but he has a very sneaky & devilish side to him.

Today Biggs chewed my brand new pair of goggles... the package too! I'm currently training for a triathlon and my old goggles would fog up something fierce. I took a poll on facebook from my triathlete friends and turns out they like a different brand than what I bought.

Part of this could be my fault...

I left the new goggles and my training energy sports performance jelly beans out while I left the house for a couple of hours. Apparently Biggs ate the jelly beans, so it's no wonder he had an extra spurt of energy. After devouring the beans he crunched his way through the goggles and they had not chance of survival.
